Managing Director of the German Energy Agency (dena) Kristina Haverkamp greeted the participants of the VIII Distributed Power Generation — Great Achievements International Award. As one of the most competent international experts in the field of RES development, she emphasized the importance of the energy transition and thanked this year participants for their work. «You are the drivers of the transformation of our energy systems,» — Kristina Haverkamp said.
The appeal, among the other things, says:
On behalf of the German Energy Agency dena, I would like to thank the organisers for this remarkable and important initiative!
2020 is a special year for dena, the German Energy Agency. In October we celebrated our 20th birthday. For two decades we are working on the energy transition in Germany and abroad. So this topic is really not new to us. But especially within the last years, there has been a change.
There is a new global dynamic. A dynamic that we really need. With the rising awareness of climate change that led to the Paris Agreement and recently the European Green Deal, the global transformation of the energy systems became one of the most important topics of our time.
The amount of renewable energies is continuously growing. Many countries have set up ambitious goals and are integrating more and more renewable energies in their system. In Germany the share of renewable energy, mostly wind and solar power, has increased from six percent in the year 2000 to 42 percent in the year 2019.
But we are not simply changing the energy source. The modern energy system will be renewable and decentralised. To control such systems and to run the power grids is a big challenge. The solution is digitisation and energy storage.
Besides decarbonisation, decentral renewable energy systems have remarkable benefits for energy security, self-sufficiency and local creation of value. New business models are coming up, stimulating economy and employment.
That’s why your work is so important. We need you and your innovative solutions. I want to thank all candidates for the award of this year. You are the drivers of the transformation of our energy systems.
