According to the outlined plans during the «14th Five-Year Plan» period, there are substantial opportunities for expanding distributed energy in the Middle Kingdom. As of early 2023, the total installed capacity of distributed energy in China was approximately 250.005 GW. In comparison, these figures are significantly lower in Russia, hovering around 20-24 GW.

The "public online voting" for the 2024 competition projects has begun on the website of the X International Prize "Small Energy – Big Achievements." The right to choose the strongest projects of the year has been granted not only to the members of the International Expert Council but also to the industry community. The "public voting" will continue until December 5.

The Association of Small Energy has raised the issue of the inexpediency of developing and approving power output schemes (POS) when carrying out the technological connection of power plants for own needs, without power output to the external network. The abolition of this requirement will allow consumers to commission energy facilities for their own needs in a shorter time frame and increase the accessibility of energy infrastructure. This proposal was sent for consideration to the Minister of Energy of Russia, Sergey Tsivilev.

Among the nominees are companies and organizations from Russia and the United Arab Emirates. A total of 72 competitors vied for the main prize of the competition—the «Golden Lightning» statuette. Following preliminary selection results, the organizing committee has compiled the shortlist for the 2024 Award. This week, members of the International Expert Council will begin reviewing the projects. The names of the winners will be announced on December 13 in Moscow.
