Sergey Esyakov, First Deputy Chairman of the Energy Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation greeted the participants and the organizers of the VIII Distributed Power Generation — Great Achievements International Award. In his appeal Mr. Esyakov expressed his hope that «the developments and solutions proposed within the frames of the competition will serve to increase the energy efficiency of the Russian economy, develop environmental responsible technologies, further develop renewable energy sources and form distributed generation into an independent energy sub-industry».
Appeal, among the other things, says:
The fact that the Award will be rewarded for the eighth time, attracting new market participants every year, indicates that the distributed energy industry is actively developing. New small-scale gas generation facilities are being commissioned in the country, solar and wind farms are being launched, and innovative technologies based on renewable energy are being introduced.
On the one hand, this is in line with global trends: decentralized energy is strengthening its positions every year. On the other hand, it raises the question of the future of the energy industry, which, as it is obvious, will retain it carbon character in the next 20-25 years. Today, oil and gas are still occupying a large share in the energy mix.
Meanwhile, ensuring reliable power supply is a general common goal for the distributed and alternative power generation projects. Tens of thousands of scientists, theorists and practitioners, industry experts are working on its solution, including the contestants of the VIII Distributed Power Generation — Great Achievements International Award.
I am sure that the ideas and technologies, developments and solutions proposed within the frames of the competition will serve to improve the energy efficiency of the Russian economy, the development of environmental responsible technologies, the further development of renewable energy sources and the formation of distributed generation into an independent energy subsector.
I wish good luck to all the participants, successful identifying the best projects to the members of the Expert Council and development to the Award.
