Applications for the XII International Award “Distributed Power Generation – Great Achievements” are still being accepted. This year the award had some changes: an independent industry award will be presented in seven updated categories, and the International Expert Council has been expanded with some new names. However, its main goal remains unchanged: to find the best industry projects of the year, create a platform for sharing experience, and strengthen the potential of the scientific and engineering community.

International Award “Distributed Power Generation – Great Achievements” has been held since 2013 and has become an authoritative platform for presenting the most significant achievements in one of the most rapidly developing industries: small-scale distributed and renewable energy.

The award is organized by the Distributed Power Generation Association, co-organized by the Business Russia business association. Over 12 years 737 companies and organizations from 12 countries have entered the contest. 50 of them became winners and holders of the main award — the Golden Lightning statuette.

This year the award will be presents in seven categories:

  • «The best project in the field of small distributed power generation up to 5 MW»; 
  • «The best project in the field of small distributed power generation with a capacity of more than 5 MW»; 
  • «Best Renewable Energy, Storage and Electric Transportation Project»;
  • «Domestic development in the field of small-scale distributed energy»; 
  • «The Best Data Center Power Supply Project»;
  • «Research and development in the field of small-scale distributed energy»;
  • «Best information project in the field of small distributed energy».

This year's innovation – «The Best Data Center Power Supply Project» nomination – it is intended to highlight the most efficient, technologically advanced, and reliable solutions for power supply in data centers, which are in high demand due to the rapid growth of the digital economy, cloud services, and artificial intelligence.

Companies and organizations working in the field of small-scale distributed and renewable energy, as well as research institutes and higher education institutions, are invited to participate in the award. The submitted project must be implemented between 2025 and 2026. Participation in the award is free of charge as usual.

The winners will be determined by independent voting of the members of the International Expert Council, which has been expanded this year. It includes leading experts and analysts in the field of distributed power generation, representatives of the business community, heads of major energy companies, leading Russian and foreign scientists.

Yuchai company will act as a general partner of the 2026 Award for the first time. Traditionally, the Award is supported by the MKS group Company as a general partner. The official partner is Chelyabinsk Electrical Equipment Plant.

The discussion was moderated by Maxim Zagornov, Business Ambassador of Business Russia to the UAE, President of the Distributed Power Generation Association, and Director of the Research Center for Autonomous Energy at MIPT.

New Pathways for Technological Cooperation Between Russia and the UAE Discussed at SPIEF 2026

On June 3, on the sidelines of the Russian Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship Forum, which opened the first day of SPIEF, a panel session organised by Business Russia and the Distrubuted Power Generation Association titled "Russia and the UAE: New Pathways for Technological Cooperation" took place. Session participants discussed the development of full-fledged bilateral partnership to ensure the technological sovereignty of both countries.
