Applications for the 10th International Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» are open now

The 10th Anniversary International Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» is one of significant industry events in Russia. On July 1, acceptance of applications for the award begins. According to the organizers of the contest, despite the sanctions pressure, many Russian energy companies have demonstrated an unprecedented ability to mobilize, continuing to implement innovative projects and commission new small power facilities. The main task of this year's award is to discover such projects, effective import substitution programs, encourage all those who, despite the situation, continued to develop the small-scale distributed power industry in the country. Applications will be accepted until November 1.

The International Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» has been held since 2013 and since then has become an authoritative platform for presentation of advanced projects in the field of small distributed and renewable energy. The contest is organized by the Distributed Power Generation Association and co-organized by the All-Russian Public Organization Business Russia.

This year's award will be presented in 6 categories:

  • «The best project in the field of small distributed energy with capacity up to 5 MW»; 
  • «The best project in the field of small distributed energy with a capacity of more than 5 MW»; 
  • «The best project in the field of renewable energy, storage and electric transportation»;
  • «Domestic development in the field of small distributed energy»; 
  • «Investor of the Year in the field of small distributed energy»; 
  • «Research and development in the field of small distributed energy».

Companies and organizations located in Russia and friendly countries, operating in the field of small distributed and renewable energy, as well as research institutes and organizations conducting applied research and development in this field are invited to participate in the Award. The project submitted for the award must be implemented in the period from 2021 to 2024. Participation in the Award is free of charge.

The winners of the X International Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» will be determined by independent voting of the members of the International Expert Council. It consists of 40 outstanding professionals: experts and analysts in the field of small-scale power engineering, representatives of the business community, heads of major energy enterprises, professors of the country's industry-specific universities, as well as legendary Russian scientists. This year, the International Expert Council of the Award will be supplemented with new names, including experts from China and the United Arab Emirates.

According to Maxim Zagornov, the organizer of the project, president of the Distributed Power Generation Association, chairman of the subcommittee on small power generation of Business Russia, one of the main objectives of this year's award is to identify the best industry projects, to emphasize the economic and social importance of the small power industry in the mobilization of Russia's economy, to promote the potential of the scientific and engineering community of the country during the period of sanctions pressure.

«Over the last two years, the small-scale power industry in Russia has changed dramatically. Western sanctions on the supply of European power equipment have temporarily frozen the construction of distributed power generation facilities in the country.  But at the same time they became a powerful stimulus for the introduction of innovative solutions, search for new brands of generating equipment, prompt solution of import substitution issues, implementation of new distributed energy projects. I am convinced that the 10th International Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» will help to identify such projects, best anti-crisis practices, effective import substitution programs, encourage all those who continue to provide enterprises with affordable energy resources and develop the small power industry in the country», - Maxim Zagornov emphasized.

For 10 years about 600 companies and organizations from 12 countries took part in the contest. 37 of them became winners and owners of the main award - the statuette «Golden Lightning».

The online call for applications for the 10th Anniversary Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» will start at https://energo-union.com/en on July 1 and will run until November 1.

The information partner of the award is the newspaper Energy and Industry of Russia. Operational coverage of the project will be carried out in the Telegram channel of the Distributed Power Generation Association.

60 Projects from Russia and the UAE Make the 2024 Shortlist

The shortlist for the X International Award «DISTRIBUTED POWER GENERATION – GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS» has been announced, featuring 60 projects from two countries. Among the nominees are companies and organizations from Russia and the United Arab Emirates. A total of 72 competitors vied for the main prize of the competition—the «Golden Lightning» statuette. Following preliminary selection results, the organizing committee has compiled the shortlist for the 2024 Award. This week, members of the International Expert Council will begin reviewing the projects. The names of the winners will be announced on December 13 in Moscow.

"Small energy industry strives for great achievements": an interview with Maxim Zagornov

The International Award "Small Energy - Great Achievements" is held for the tenth time this year. Today it is the main industry award for the best implemented projects in the field of distributed and renewable energy. Maxim Zagornov, President of the Association of Small-scale Power Generation, told the editor-in-chief of Energy and Industry of Russia about the main trends and prospects of distributed generation in Russia, how the award is changing taking into account the current realities and new challenges for the industry.

In a letter to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Association of Small-Scale Power Industry made proposals for the development of energy capacities in the Far East

Following the Ninth Eastern Economic Forum, the President of Russia instructed the Government, together with the business community, to prepare a long-term program for the development of energy capacities in the Far East and to provide for project financing mechanisms. The Small Energy Association made its proposals, which were reflected in a letter to Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
