A new nomination cycle has begun for the International Award "Distributed power generation – great achievements". Applications for this prestigious professional award in the field of small-scale distributed and renewable energy are now being accepted on the project website: https://energo-union.com/en/award
Amidst the transformation of the economy and energy market, the small-scale distributed energy sector continues to demonstrate resilience, high adaptability, and the ability to implement advanced technological solutions. The primary goal of this year's Award is to identify and support the best projects that contribute to the development of the sector, enhance the energy independence of enterprises, and promote the adoption of cutting-edge solutions.
Recall that the International Award "Distributed power generation – great achievements" has been conducted since 2013 and to date represents a prestigious platform for showcasing advanced projects in the field of small-scale distributed and renewable energy. The competition is organized by the Distrubuted Power Generation Association, co-organized by the All-Russian public organization "Business Russia ".
This year, the Award will be presented in 7 nominations:
- "The best project in the field of small distributed power generation up to 5 MW";
- "The best project in the field of small distributed power generation with a capacity of more than 5 MW";
- "Best Renewable Energy, Storage and Electric Transportation Project";
- "Domestic development in the field of small-scale distributed energy";
- "Best Data Center Power Supply Project";
- "Research and development in the field of small distributed energy";
- "Best Information Project in the field of small-scale distributed energy ".
An innovation this year is the nomination "Best Data Center Power Supply Project" – designed to recognize the most efficient, technologically advanced, and reliable solutions in power supply for data centers, demand for which is growing rapidly alongside the development of the digital economy, cloud services, and artificial intelligence.
Currently, the issue of data center power supply is becoming critically important for the industry's development. This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation, who called for the creation of generation facilities in close proximity to consumers to support the development of digital services and AI technologies. Distributed generation today is the only tool capable of rapidly solving the power supply challenge for new data centers without causing price or tariff increases. Successful projects have already been implemented.
Companies and organizations located in Russia and friendly countries operating in the field of small-scale distributed and renewable energy, as well as research institutes and organizations conducting applied research in this area, are invited to participate in the Award. Enterprises implementing small-scale distributed energy projects at their own production facilities are also invited to participate. The submitted project must have been implemented between 2025 and 2026. Participation in the Award is free of charge.
The seventh nomination, "Best Information Project in the field of small-scale distributed energy ", has been retained this year. Representatives of mass media, bloggers, as well as companies and organizations creating projects that inform about the development of the small-scale distributed energy sector, are invited to participate in this nomination category.
The winners of the XII International Award " Distributed power generation – great achievements " will be determined through independent voting by members of the International Expert Council. The council includes leading experts and analysts in the field of small-scale energy, business community representatives, heads of major energy enterprises, professors from specialized universities, and distinguished scientists from Russia, China, and the UAE.
As noted by the project organizer, President of the Distrubuted Power Generation Association, Member of the General Council, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Small-Scale Generation of "Business Russia", Director of the Research Center for Autonomous Energy at MIPT, Maxim Zagornov, one of the main objectives of this year's Award is to highlight the strategic importance of distributed generation for the country's industry, economy, and digital infrastructure.
"Today, small-scale energy is becoming a key tool for ensuring reliable and affordable power supply for enterprises. The growth in demand for autonomous and backup power sources for data centers, industrial facilities, and remote territories is particularly notable. I am confident that the XII International Award “Distributed power generation – great achievements” will identify the most effective projects, best engineering teams, and new technological solutions shaping the future of our industry," emphasized Maxim Zagornov.
It is worth noting that over the past 12 years, 737 companies and organizations from 12 countries have participated in the competition. Fifty of them have become winners and recipients of the main award – the "Golden Lightning" statuette.
