Distributed Power Generation Association and Business Russia is preparing for a large-scale business mission to the UAE

Distributed Power Generation Association together with Business Russia are preparing for a large-scale business mission to the United Arab Emirates. The strategic goal of this trip will be to participate in the 24th International Exhibition on Water Treatment Technologies, Energy Technologies and Environmental Protection WETEX, visit key Free Trade Zones of the UAE, study specific options for opening companies and production facilities, get acquainted with the work of Business Russia Trade House in the UAE, establish direct business contacts with stakeholders.

Business mission of the Distributed Power Generation Association and Business Russia in the United Arab Emirates will be held from September 26 to 30, 2022. The business trip will be focused on companies of a wide industry profile interested in rapid entry into the Emirati market, business relocation to the UAE, and establishing effective bilateral business relations. The mission will be headed by Maksim Zagornov, President of the Distributed Power Generation Association, Business Ambassador of Business Russia to the UAE.

Today, the Emirates has become a partner №1 in the Middle East for Russia. The UAE has officially announced its intention to increase trade and economic cooperation with the Russian Federation, which has been confirmed by the UAE Embassy in the Russian Federation at a business breakfast with members of Business Russia on July 13, 2022.  The Emirates support the relocation of Russian companies to the UAE and create conditions for the development of innovative projects. Today, more than 40,000 Russian entrepreneurs have moved to the UAE for permanent residence. There is an active process of companies’ registration and production facilities launch, including by the members of the Distributed Power Generation Association and Business Russia.

The Distributed Power Generation Association and Business Russia have been actively represented in the Emirates for the last 4 years. In the UAE business community, these business organizations have gained a reputation as structures that unite the leading companies of the Russian Federation. During this time, four business missions were conducted, each of which had positive results and assisted Russian companies to enter the UAE market.  

In 2019 and 2021, business missions of the Distributed Power Generation Association were held at WETEX, an International exhibition on water treatment technologies, energy technologies and environmental protection. In 2021, WETEX held a solemn Ceremony of awarding the IX International Award "Small energy – great achievements". A prestigious industry award from Russia was presented to the Dubai Electricity Power and Water Authority (DEWA) for innovative projects in the field of solar and hydrogen energy, as well as a significant contribution to the development of green energy and consolidation of efforts for sustainable development. As a result of business trips, a number of companies entered into new agreements and contracts. Thus, MIPT, a participant of the business mission in 2021, with the assistance of Business Russia signed an agreement with Khalifa University of Science and Technology and MKC for Power Solutions for the construction of a hydrogen test site in Abu Dhabi. This project is currently being implemented.

The business mission of 2022 will be a logical continuation of the strategy of Russian companies entering the United Arab Emirates market.

The key event of the business mission-2022 will be participation in the 24th International Exhibition on Water Treatment Technologies, Energy Technologies and Environmental Protection WETEX - one of the most authoritative exhibitions of this profile in the world. WETEX is held by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This year it will bring together more than 2,500 exhibitors from 55 countries and will be held from September 27 to 29 at the Dubai International Exhibition Center (Dubai).

At WETEX-2022, the Distributed Power Generation Association and Business Russia will present a single booth as part of the general exposition of the Russian Export Center. Members of the business mission will have the opportunity to participate in all the events of the booth's business program, conduct personal b2b negotiations, and present their company's products to potential partners from the UAE. 

In addition, the business mission program will include a visit to the most advanced UAE FTZs - Kizad, Masdar City, DMCC to work out in detail the issues of opening companies or production facilities on the territory of these Free Zones with the assistance of Business Russia Trade House in the UAE.

60 Projects from Russia and the UAE Make the 2024 Shortlist

The shortlist for the X International Award «DISTRIBUTED POWER GENERATION – GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS» has been announced, featuring 60 projects from two countries. Among the nominees are companies and organizations from Russia and the United Arab Emirates. A total of 72 competitors vied for the main prize of the competition—the «Golden Lightning» statuette. Following preliminary selection results, the organizing committee has compiled the shortlist for the 2024 Award. This week, members of the International Expert Council will begin reviewing the projects. The names of the winners will be announced on December 13 in Moscow.

"Small energy industry strives for great achievements": an interview with Maxim Zagornov

The International Award "Small Energy - Great Achievements" is held for the tenth time this year. Today it is the main industry award for the best implemented projects in the field of distributed and renewable energy. Maxim Zagornov, President of the Association of Small-scale Power Generation, told the editor-in-chief of Energy and Industry of Russia about the main trends and prospects of distributed generation in Russia, how the award is changing taking into account the current realities and new challenges for the industry.

In a letter to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Association of Small-Scale Power Industry made proposals for the development of energy capacities in the Far East

Following the Ninth Eastern Economic Forum, the President of Russia instructed the Government, together with the business community, to prepare a long-term program for the development of energy capacities in the Far East and to provide for project financing mechanisms. The Small Energy Association made its proposals, which were reflected in a letter to Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
