The set-up online meeting of the Expert Council of the Award-2020 is complete

The set-up meeting of the Expert Council members of the VIII International Award «Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements» was held on June 30. It was arranged in an online mode and gathered over 20 leading industry experts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg. Traditionally the first experts' meeting gives an official start to the award project. All participants of the meeting wished this year's Award, held in such a difficult economic situation, strong competitive projects, independent judging, further expansion and development.

As noted by a member of the Expert Council, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei V. Alekseenko, the International Award «Distributed Power Generation — Great Achievements» is perhaps the only non-state, non-governmental award in the world that has achieved recognition in the industrial community. «The fact that the Award will be held for the eighth time is highly respectful» — emphasized the academician and wished productive work to both contestants and experts.

Alexey Khokhlov, member of the Expert Council, Head of Power and Utilities, Energy Centre, Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, expressed his hope that, despite the crisis phenomena, the Award-2020 will show powerful sector projects. «The crisis is also a time of opportunity. And for the distributed power generation industry as well, which has now received a new impetus for development» said the expert.

The organizer of the Award, President of the Distributed Power Generation Association, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Distributed Power Generation of the «Business Russia» Energy Committee Maksim Zagornov spoke about the main innovation of this year's Award — the launch of an electronic application collection system, and also introduced new members of the Expert Council for the Award. This year, the editor-in-chief of the independent analytical online journal «Geoenergetica.ru» Boris L. Marcinkevich, one of the bright analysts and popularizers in the energy sector, joined the experts’ team. «I am glad to join such a brilliant team of experts», said Mr. Marcinkevich. «I am sure that huge opportunities are hidden in the distributed generation sector, not only for Russia, but also for many other countries».

Also, all the participants of the meeting congratulated a member of the Expert Council of the Award, Director of the Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics, SB RAS, professor Dmitry M. Markovitch on receiving the State Award of the Russian Federation in the Kremlin. The highest governmental award was presented to a team of scientists at the Institute of Thermophysics for development of a single-walled carbon nanotubes producing reactor — the production volume is tens of tons per year. This technology repeatedly increases the strength of materials used in almost all areas of economy and industry. As the meeting participants noted, such a high level of the Expert Council guarantees a high level of independent examination of the competitive projects, and in general raises the status of the Award.

Please note that reception of applications for the VIII International Award «Distributed Power Generation — Great Achievements» is already opened on the website of the project and will last until October, 17. The Award ceremony will be held in Moscow in mid-December.

60 Projects from Russia and the UAE Make the 2024 Shortlist

The shortlist for the X International Award «DISTRIBUTED POWER GENERATION – GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS» has been announced, featuring 60 projects from two countries. Among the nominees are companies and organizations from Russia and the United Arab Emirates. A total of 72 competitors vied for the main prize of the competition—the «Golden Lightning» statuette. Following preliminary selection results, the organizing committee has compiled the shortlist for the 2024 Award. This week, members of the International Expert Council will begin reviewing the projects. The names of the winners will be announced on December 13 in Moscow.

"Small energy industry strives for great achievements": an interview with Maxim Zagornov

The International Award "Small Energy - Great Achievements" is held for the tenth time this year. In a letter to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Association of Small-Scale Power Industry made proposals for the development of energy capacities in the Far East

Following the Ninth Eastern Economic Forum, the President of Russia instructed the Government, together with the business community, to prepare a long-term program for the development of energy capacities in the Far East and to provide for project financing mechanisms. The Small Energy Association made its proposals, which were reflected in a letter to Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
