In 2015, the award «Distributed power generation – great achievements» acquired the status pf the international for the first time and was held in terms of the Vth annual Energy Forum «Strategy of joint access to the international energy market», organized by the Distributed power generation Association with support of the State Duma of Russian Federation Energy Committee, Ministry of Energy of Russian Federation and the Government of Chelyabinsk region. The event gathered in Chelyabinsk about 200 participants from different cities of Russia, as well as the Middle Abroad. On the agenda was the question: how, in the context of the sharply falling domestic demand for energy services, the consolidated efforts to enter the markets of other countries.

In the second part of the event, the International Award «Distributed power generation – great achievements» was presented. The Organizing Committee of the competition in 2015 received 73 applications from 9 countries. The geography of the participants covered not only the cities of Russia, but also foreign countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, Japan, Nigeria, Sierra Leone. Russia at the contest was represented by Yakutsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Ufa, Tomsk, Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Krasnogorsk, Krasnodar Territory, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In 2015, to the traditional nominations — «The best project in the field of small power up to 5 MW», «The best project in the field of small power with a capacity of 5 MW», «The best project in the field of alternative energy» — a special nomination was added: «Innovative development in sphere of energy». All the winners of the contest received a statuette «Golden Lightning». The ceremony ended with a colorful laser show.
